New York Fashion Week: Spring 2015

Hello Friends!

I hope you are doing well!  Last week was the end of fashion week and I wanted to write about some fashion inspiration I saw in the city.  Each morning as I'm headed to work, I grab the local paper and turn to the highlights of the recent runway shows.

I loved the floral look from Micheal Kors. His take on bright spring florals, gingham, and plaids were very refreshing. His designs gave me an overall spring "HAPPY" feeling.

The next designer I really enjoyed was Dolce and Gabbana. This look was based from a Spanish influence in Sicily between 1516 and 1713. Bright red lips, white peplum shirts and  black matador looking short shorts. Not sure what to wear? Just think, Red, Red and more Red.

Tom Ford's collection was described as long and lean, infused with rock 'n roll sensuality. Think black leather, sheer black hose, fringe, and metallic colors like silver and gold.

I noticed capes were still chic, overalls can be fun, and fringe were all being presented on the catwalk and on the streets of New York. White lace was a big hit in many runway shows, ( I should alter my wedding dress, and wear it out! Just Kidding)

I love the large brimmed fedora hats! Ralph Lauren had some amazing ones in his show. I keep seeing these leather mini backpacks all around the city. So Fun! I think the funniest runway goes to
Valentino for Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson's appearance for Zoolander 2.

Here are a few of my favorite styles from New York Fashion Week.  What was your favorite look?

Sunday Coffee Talk: How to Style Your Coffee Table

Hello Friends!

Today I was trying to gain some inspiration on how to design your coffee table in your living room. I wanted my space to reflect things that I an passionate about. My hobbies, what kind of colors make me feel good and to have a place where I can entertain friends and family. There are no rules to follow, just a couple basic things to know that can help your table look beautiful. Below are my tips and a link to Etoile du North for more ideas and inspiration.

Etoile du North:

1. Large coffee table art and design books look so colorful and fun for your guests to skim through. I  love fashion, and designers always great big books filled to the brim with advice on beauty and style. These books add depth and lots of color to a room!

2. Fresh flowers are a great centerpiece when you are hosting a dinner or cocktail party. You don't have to buy them all the time, just for special occasions.

3. Add a home accent that is irregular in shape or a laquored box for knick knacks. I saw the cutest mirrored box that would really show well. Natural pieces like coral, a large shell or  drift wood from the beach works well too.

4. Add some tall and short pieces to cut up a flat look. Add a candle stick or a candle holder.

It really all depends on your theme. Show your interests and style!
